Learn to drive a powerboat on coastal waters on this two day RYA Powerboat course.
As one of the most popular courses we run, this weekend is designed to equip you with all the basic skills and background knowledge to become a competent powerboat driver. No previous experience is needed for this course. This award also forms the basis of the international certificate of competence.
You’ll learn how to launch and recover from a road trailer, high and low speed manoeuvres and seamanship skills such as man-overboard recovery and anchoring.
Shore-based sessions will include instruction in engine maintenance, practical use of charts and compasses, tidal and weather interpretation and legal requirements. Our course includes your RYA “start powerboating” handbook and also includes chartplotter / GPS on board instruction AND a proper passage around the Fowey, Mevagissey or Polperro, Looe areas.
PLEASE NOTE: This certificate now requires a passport photo. Please remember to bring one with you, otherwise we will not be able to issue you with your certificate.
