RYA Intermediate Powerboat Course

This two-day course follows on from the National Powerboat Certificate (also known as Level 2). We will develop your basic driving skills in more complex situations and weather permitting, include an introduction to rough water boat handling. You’ll be introduced to basic navigation and pilotage, as well as planning a day trip. Sessions will also be run on the use of compasses, GPS and VHF radio, personal safety and dealing with emergency situations such as engine failure, fire and recovering someone who has fallen overboard.

The course also focus’ on navigational excercises, pre-planned in the class room you will have the ability to navigate safely around the coast, understanding weather, tides, pilotage and utisiling charts. During the two days you will have the opportunity to plan your own passage from Fowey to Polperro, Looe or Mevagissey.

Pre-course experience: you should be competent to Powerboat Level 2 with coastal endorsement
